In Good Culture's case it's private equity invested (a majority amount mind you) instead of acquiring. The CEO and founder are staying on, team is still there. Running these brands is an expensive endeavor, and for these brands to continue sometimes this is the route they need to take. Spindrift recently got acquired by PE and hasn't changed. But yes, PE can be a bad omen sometimes.
